Injury Prevention Programs

Injury prevention outreach programs are key to the work undertaken by the Pediatric Trauma Program. These events are designed to educate children, parents and community members on a wide range of injury prevention techniques. Our efforts to provide outreach programs continually evolve to meet the changing trends of traumatic injuries and the needs of our community's children.

Car Seat Checks

Caregivers work one on one with a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician and learn how to safely install their car seat into their vehicles, as well as how to appropriately buckle children into car seats. Car seat checks are by appointment only and last approximately 30 minutes per child. Car seats may be available for those who qualify.

Please call 734-763-2251 to schedule an appointment at one of our five monthly fitting stations.

BabySafe – Please Call to Register

BabySafe is a class that meets once a month for new and expectant parents. The 2 hour class focuses on topics that pertain to safety throughout the first years of a baby’s life: home safety, car seat safety, and safe sleep. A video-led component of infant CPR and infant choking, with practice on CPR dolls, is also included in class.

Please call 734-763-2251 to register, and please be aware that this is a popular class that tends to fill up several months in advance.

How to Participate

Many of our events require registration or an appointment. Please contact us at 734-763-2251 to inquire about participating in an event.
