Outreach & Events
Injury Prevention Programs
Injury prevention outreach programs are key to the work undertaken by the Pediatric Trauma Program. These events are designed to educate children, parents and community members on a wide range of injury prevention techniques. Our efforts to provide outreach programs continually evolve to meet the changing trends of traumatic injuries and the needs of our community's children. Our programs are free, but you can support us by making a gift here.
Car Seat Checks
Caregivers work one on one with a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician and learn how to safely install their car seat into their vehicles, as well as how to appropriately buckle children into car seats. Car seat checks are by appointment only and last approximately 30 minutes per child. Car seats may be available for those who qualify.
Please call 734-763-2251 for more information.
Virtual Car Seat Checks
We offer virtual car seat check appointments to those who have a car seat and would like to learn how to properly use their seat. During the virtual car seat check, a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician will show you the correct way to install and use your car seat, provide safety recommendations and answer any questions you may have on how to safely transport your child in a car.

Baby Safe
Baby Safe is an online course for new parents, expectant parents, grandparents, and caregivers. The class focuses on topics that pertain to safety throughout the first years of a baby’s life: home safety, car seat safety, and safe sleep. This course offers a demonstration led by a CPR-certified individual modeling chest compressions on an infant CPR doll.
